Soft Pink and Black: the corporate ladies mullet
I have decided that this whole baby pink or a soft hue of pink paired with black I see in (you should know what part of town I am about to say) gasp, um Midtown is basically a corporate women’s mullet.
We know, we know they are trying to communicate I am soft, but tough in a witty way. Well no, it doesn’t work. Really this pink and black thing is like rocking a mullet. It’s from the same vein as the business in the front, party in the back philosophy. P&B from the B&T. Does anyone else hear a banjo? Or sorry, trance? Anyone smell cologne? The P&B chicks are setting off a guido alert.
The first time I had ever heard the mullet reasoning was from a photographer on a photo shoot. He slowly turned his head as he explained why a mullet is so cool. He was turning slowly so he could dramatically unveil his little witty surprise.
He had a mullet.
That’s right. Totally surreal. I had a man in a mullet break down the mullet science to me.
I totally died laughing. And it wasn’t ironic like these cool punky or dirty hippie hipster ones. He was the real deal. His version was a mullet with a tiny pony tail tucked away. Since I styled in front of the camera or at a side table, I just never saw his “party in the back” until he mentioned it. Camaro move number two came when he started getting all Dungens and Dragons on me and told me I was a succubus but he was OK with it.
Anyway, this soft pink and black thing doesn’t work. If you are working this “look” opt for all black and save the pink for a dark denim jean or skirt. Or tuck the black pants into some dark burgandy or brown boots. How about some patent leather ballet flats? Or low heal? The P&B will thank me one day for this tip if they are reading. My boyfriend agrees with my fashion mullet philosophy and we laughed the whole way to the train as we counted 1* 2 *3 of these midtown mullets. In a with you not at you kinda way…we will free you from the herd! One baby pink loafer and stiletto at a time!
I have never seen one of these pink and black hairdon’ts, but it sounds like you are on point with your summation.
