New York’s Best Ice Cream
It may seem odd to bring up ice cream in January, but we have been enjoying unusually warm weather here in New York. This weekend at one point it was up to 70 degrees. Unbelievable.
And really ice cream is always great in my book no matter what the weather is like.
Especially from China Town Ice Cream Factory.
This is a family run shop that has been in existance for 28 years. All of the ice cream and sorbet is made in the shop with the finest ingredients available. There is a wide selection of “regular” gourmet flavors and some “exotic” choices that come with a Chinese twist. Flavors such as Black Sesame, Lychee, Ginger, Pumpkin Pie, Almond Cookie, Peanut Butter and Jelly, Coffee Brandy, Chocolate Carmel Pecan are stand outs to me. They even offer Wasabi!
My boyfriend is lactose intolerant so this is a great find for him since they offer up to a dozen unique sorbet flavors, like Longan, Tangerine, Blueberry, Watermelon, and Mango Papaya year round. They also stay open until about 11 PM every day (depending on the weather). I recently had ice cream there Christmas night! I also think this could be an interesting alternative on a first date to cocktails or a fun dessert option.
